Airwolf Themes 2CD Special Limited Edition broke its own record for the third time as the “Most Expensive Television Soundtrack of all Time” on 10th March, 2006 when a British-based seller’s eBay auction closed at $981.74
This broke the existing record of $765.00 set two years earlier (see below).
The Airwolf Themes 2CD Special Limited Edition achieved yet another unofficial World Record as the Most Expensive Television Soundtrack of all Time' on Thursday 25th March, 2004by smashing its previous record -- again set by an eBay auction on the 18 March, 2000 -- when a Washington-based seller sold his spare 2CD set for $765.00
Two auctions just a few days before made $375 and $466 respectively.
Airwolf Themes' original World Record was set on the 18 March, 2000 when an undisclosed bidder -- in a private auction on eBay -- placed a high bid of US $715.03.
This has been verified by the acclaimed 'SoundtrackGuide.com'' website, achieving an overall No.3 behind blockbusters, 'Moulin Rouge' and 'Blade Runner' it was the only TV series' soundtrack to make it into the all-time top ten.
The "Most Expensive Film Soundtrack of all Time" was set in the early 1990s -- pre-eBay -- by a small B-movie's score called 'Cherry 2000' with an astonishing price of $1200 for one CD.
Airwolf Themes set the original World Record for a Television Soundtrack on the 18 March, 2000 when an undisclosed bidder -- in a private auction on eBay -- placed a high bid of US $715.03, a fantastic profit for the seller due to the fact that their original copy cost just US $60 a few months earlier.
Subsequent auctions are now hovering around the $375 - $475 mark which all continue to show that many fans still feel that the Special Limited Edition 2CD soundtrack was also considered as an investment by the canny few.
Only one week earlier than the $715 auction above, Airwolf Themes made it to joint No.8 on the Record list by another eBay auction closing with a high bid of US $510.00
And as the years go by, the price just goes up and up... Airwolf Themes made $466.55 in this eBay auction in March 2004.
The phenomenon and folklore continued as Airwolf Themes made $405 in this eBay auction. Regular stocks were nearly diminished at this stage.
