AIRWOLF Episode Guide – Season 3
Season 3 of 'Airwolf' watered down the format even further away from the original concept in Season 1, with a more action-orientated show. Some of the aerial battles were fanastic though including Airwolf meeting its doppelganger Redwold in 'AIRWOLF II', the extended aerial of the Lady trying to stop a set of nuclear missiles hitting Washington in 'WHERE HAVE ALL THE CHILDREN GONE?", the triple award-winning stunt sequences - including the fantastic middle aerial against the 'Mongoose' laser weapon in "ANNIE OAKLEY", the amazing spectacle of the cinematography of 'THE DEADLY CIRCLE', and the brief resurgence of Sylvester Levay's Orchestral Main Theme for the main Aerial battle against the X-400 (in reality the Avtek 400 prototype) in "EAGLES.
The 3rd Season had its highlights, including a recurring super villain, John Bradford Horn, played by the late Richard Lynch and subsequently the late John R. Vernon to perfection, but overall the watered down domestic stories than plagued the season, including the abomnimble penultimate episode 'TRACKS', the "Days of Our Lives" baby kidnapping script of 'LITTLE WOLF' and using more children and people with disabilities, overall the season had more lows than highs, topped off by the 'MIAMI VICE-esque' Season Finale in 'BIRDS OF PARADISE' that would have brought in a new direction for the show.
But by the last 4-5 episodes, the main cast and prominent members of the crew knew the show was doomed to cancellation and it showed. There was even a mug produced by the production crew at the final wrap party which said "I survived Season 3 of Airwolf", which says it all and the end of an era for many.
